WHY DO MEN GO BALD?
–> Men can lose their hair at any time in their lives, not only when they grow old. Bald men have an inherited trait that makes them lose their hair in a special pattern. That pattern is called “male pattern baldness”. When a young man starts to lose his hair, his body is following the instructions of his genetic code-just like when your body makes blonde or black hair, blue or brown eyes . If you’re a lucky male , you might someday get a perfect bald head….

WHY DOES MY NOSE RUN?
–> The nose serves as one of the body’s first barriers against infection. Your nose makes more mucus when a foreign substance , such as a virus, enters the body. That mucus, combined with an increased flow of blood to the nose caused by the infection, makes your nose ” run ” with excess liquid. And it keeps tissue companies in business.

WHY DO WE BLINK?
–> Blinking protects our eyes from foreign objects, sweeps up dirt that gets in our eyes and lubricates our eyes by spreading tears across their surface. Isn’t that a lot to accomplish in the ” blink of an eye”?

>>>ThE GreaTest Gift (a short story) <<< February 3, 2010

LiTtle JimMy was laying AbOut on a hilloCk in the meAdow on a waRm sprIng day. PufFy whiTe clouDs rolled by and he poNderEd thEir shApe. SOon, he bEgan to think about GOD. “GOD? Are you really there?” JimMy said out loUd. To his astOnishmEnt a voicE camE frOm the cLoudS.

“yeS, JimMy? WHat cAn I do for yOu?”

SEizinG the oPpoRtunIty, JimMy asked, “GOD? What is a milliOn years like tO yOu?”

Knowing that JimMy could not unDerstaNd the concEpt of infInitY, GOD reSpondeD in a mAnneR to whIch JimMy coUld relAte, “A milliOn yeArs tO me, JimMy, is likE a minUte.”

“Oh, “said JimMy. “Well, tHen, whAt’s a millIon dOllars Like to you?”

“A Million doLlars to me, JimMy, is like a pEnny.”

“WoW!” remArkEd JimMy, gettIng an idEa, “YoU are sO gEneroUs … can i hAve One of your peNniEs?”

GOD replied, “SUre thing, JimMy! JUST A MINUTE.”

Funny yet so true. God enriches us more and more, when we are willing to wait for Him longer. Even during the times when it seems we are losing: losing beloved ones, relationships, jobs, health, wealth … He sustains us with more spiritual gifts: hope, wisdom, joy, patience, peace, glory to carry us through. Set your heart to wait upon the LORD Almighty and trust He will not only carry you through but will raise you highly above the tough situations you might be going through. At the moments when pain, temptation or anger seem too tough to handle, sing with King David, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my Strength and my Redeemer.”

FeBruary: The month of Love (& some fun facts) February 1, 2010

February is known as the Month of Love, and as most of us know, Valentine’s Day is on the 14th! Flowers, candy, candlelit dinners for two …but when there was no “certain someone”, then for some reason, this day can be brutal for the single person! The history of Valentine’s Day is a bit shaky. The day was indeed named after Saint Valentine, though there were three of them. One story suggests that an ancient Roman Emperor, Claudius II, believed unmarried men made better soldiers, so he banned young men from marrying. Valentine, a priest, felt this was an injustice to young lovers and performed marriages in secret. When Claudius II found out about this, Valentine was ordered to death! Then, there is Cupid! He was the God of Love in Roman Mythology; his mother was Venus. There is a story where Venus was jealous of the beauty of a mortal, named Psyche. Venus sent Cupid to punish Psyche for her good looks, but Cupid fell in love with her instead. Colors are often associated with this month.

[>>According to the Georgian calendar, February is the second month of the year, and also the shortest month. February has 28 days until Julius Caesar gave it 29, and 30 days every four years. According to tradition, Augustus, the Roman emperor, took one day off to add one day to August, the month named after him. We now have February with 28 days, and 29 on leap years. In the northern half of the world, February is a very cold month. There are usually sunny days that show Spring is not too far off. The Southern hemisphere usually enjoy midsummer weather during February.<<]

FEBRUARY QUOTE

Thirty days hath September,
April, June, and November;
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone
Which hath but twenty-eight, in fine,
Till leap year gives it twenty-nine.
